Horse head pics

At last a couple of pics of the horsehead, one pre paint in at the foil stage and the other is when I hung it from the a apple tree while I sprayed it, so it looked like a pinata, or dead horse head hanging..... depending on how your mind works... wonder what the neighbours thought ;-)
I used matt black then a layer of glitter spray, it resembles a hammered metal sculpture now, and Im looking forward to seeing it when its mounted and hanging on the wall.

Well Easter is over.

Easter is over and back to uni for a final count down before the end of term, another assessment is imminent so to look back over what I have done and how I am getting to an end point, I am really pleased with the horse head so far and hope to tweak it a little more this week a final coat of paint to make it look more carousel like and put it on a wooden mount. I have also decided that the thing I really don't like about carousel horse is the eyes, they are manic! I may do some work with these, I spy with my little eye.....

We had a quick trip to Barmouth yesterday but could not take photos at the fair as it was closed.......

Horsehead....

The original idea, a carousel horse head mounted like a deer after the hunt for example.

Chicken wire and bubble wrap... fab combination for a starting point.

and silver foil.......

taking shape nicely, and have done a test with some gold paint for a touch of colour.

Horses in art.

Horses are in abundant in art, war images from the Boar War and WW1, farming images, racing, hunting and much more. The horse has been asocaited with man for thousands of years, its a bond quite similar to the one with a dog. It has supported us through many years of evolution, as transport and working in agriculture.
